Sophie Gilbert The Atlantic It unpacks too many bizarre events in a short time frame to allow for much additional analysis. And the Broberg family, confessional to a fault, are primed more for honesty than for self-inspection. Feb 7, 2019 Full Review Kristy Puchko Pajiba Abducted In Plain Sight is one of the most harrowing true-crime documentaries I've ever seen. Abducted In Plain Sight is a remarkable and unforgettable survivor story. Jan 19, 2019 Full Review Brett Michael Dykes Uproxx This saga went on for years and as strange as it sounds, nothing can prepare you for hearing the first-hand account of how this sociopath destroyed this loving family. Dec 29, 2021 Full Review Matt Cipolla Film Monthly [T]he pacing and cheap aesthetics marginalize the most crucial beats into a collage of blink-and-you-miss-it minutiae, essentially minimizing a pedophile's evil in the process. It has an important message in that it wants to help prevent other families from going through this. K K The production is great, but I just found a lot of the people in the documentary very disgusting, especially the mother, Jan and of course B and it made me feel so stressed to watch. The way mother talks about the affair between her and B is really weird and disgusting because her face seems still in love with him or something and it made me feel so strange. The way Jan talks about the "love" with B was even weirder and made me even feel angry. The movie it self was good but I just didn't like the people in the film Rated 2.5/5 Stars • Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/08/24 Full Review J M This is the ultimate truth-is-stranger-than-fiction documentary; were this to be released as a fictional theatrical film, no one in their right mind would believe a single frame of it. In its short 90 minutes, we witness abductions, multiple affairs, a runaway teen, dysfunctional family drama, a Mexican marriage, and aliens from outer space named Zeta and Zethra. It's such a peculiar and outlandish story that you inevitably question the authenticity and truthfulness of those relaying events, and the actions of young Jan Broberg's parents will have you smacking your forehead in disbelief. Regardless it's a fascinating watch, and you'll have lots to talk about afterwards. - Jeff Marshall, Movie Blogger (Facebook) Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/08/24 Full Review Heather A I could not believe that the parents of their daughter allowed a man to sleep over in her room most of the week for 6 months. There is no way they didn't know their daughter was being molested. They were more concerned about their reputation and this man exposing that the parents were having an affair with this man. After he kidnapped their daughter and married her in Mexico at 12 they still dropped the charges. They still allowed this man in their family's life. On top of it their morman church supported this man. It's sicking that the parents allowed this man to be around their daughters and sleep in the girls room day in and out. They continually say they had no idea but theirs no way they didn't no he was obviously obsessed with their little girl. This is a disturbing story and the parents enabled it on top of it. It's about a girl who gets kidnapped by her neighbor, and the whole story is wild. I couldn't believe some of the stuff that happened! It's definitely not for the faint of heart, but if you're into true crime and twisty tales, then you gotta check this one out, bro."
